Favorite Character: Rusty Venture the gremlin man is my fav (its not cheating to say I also love his hot alternate self, they are technically the same person)

Ship/ head canon: I mainly ship Brusty, I have lots of head canons, its hard to choose just one.

Music: I mainly listen to bad early 2000s emo music, no one wants to see my bad, out of character play lists lol.

Prompts: If anyone is ever up to discussing AU Rusty (from this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBcFQ5znYCc) through head canons or giving me more content of him (fics or art), I will always be grateful.

I always have to google prog rock when I want to have Rusty or Brock listening to something. Neither of them have updated their music interests or personal style since the early 80s.

while watching that scene I figured AU rusty would come back more / be more important and was disappointed on that front. (probably for the best, since a rusty who actually has his life together is not nearly as entertaining.)

I would assume that, in this AU, Dermott doesn't exist? actually I take that back, it's interesting to speculate about where AU rusty diverged from gremlin!Rusty (did he still eat JJ in the womb? was his upbringing different? or did he make several of the same early-life mistakes and then clean up his act later in life?)

Personally I feel like he still grew up in an extremely abusive environment, but a huge divergent was no cloning.

I feel like JJ was the result of Jonas doing a shit job cloning his son anyway, so I don't really think he would have existed in this world.

AU Rusty may have been raised by Blue Morpho, that's one theory I really like right now.

He may have went down the route of becoming a villain, Killenger was convinced he couldn't be successful unless he became a villain.

Honestly, I'll be real, I really fell in love with him for his design. I really love the hair and the suit and he's like hotter Rusty but like I also really like thinking of how he got this way. How the people around him are.

I just really like the idea of a universe where everyone started out in the shitty place they all started in in canon but somehow turned their lives around. I love these characters and I do love the idea of them living in a universe that gave them a win instead of them all constantly failing (even if that is an appeal to the show lol).

Also AU Rusty is like the perfect character to just toss all the stuff I want Gremlin Rusty to do, better himself, be a better parent, get with Brock and marry him, etc.

And he's an actor, so like normal Rusty but somehow more dramatic. What's not to love.

You're so wholesome. When I imagined the Successful AU, I put Successful Rusty together with Killinger showing him HOW to be successful, by arching his brother, and assumed he was just flat out evil in that universe.

Sure, he won't let the boys us naughty language, but he's more like Jonas than any version: Successful scientist, successful PR, ABSOLUTE BRUTAL ASSHOLE. I suppose in that way, I assumed that even if our Rusty is an embarrassing gremlin, he does try to work for good and doesn't WANT to be a bad person.

It's nice to think of the AU in your way, like, yeah, they all succeed and get to be happy. :D FINALLY.

I can't picture him like Jonas personally, like if I would think of him as evil, I think more Red Death, like imposing and dangerous but nice to his family and friends (as nice as Rusty can be, he's a tsudere)

I feel I'm really biased though? I fell in love with him for his looks, I'm guilty.

Like I think I based a lot of my head canons and ideas off another show though, like I was thinking of this part in the Gravity Fall's extended material where the author goes to another dimension but its a world where everything went right and everyone was able to be happy instead of what happened in canon. I just really like the idea of a universe like that for Rusty where he is able to get therapy, he is able to over come his traumatic childhood and be stable, and like he is able to be actually happy instead of being this petty man.

I'm a sap and I love endings like that, like after everything you are able to be happy kinda thing and I just don't see that happening in canon even if Rusty has all the money in the world so I just put it on AU Rusty.

Like he is everything Rusty is unable to be and while I think AU Rusty can be a Mess(tm) but I also think he can be happy where as canon Rusty will never know that.

That's true, sort of modeling him after Red Death. Rusty has this duality to him that apparently doesn't cause him any cognitive dissonance in which he has his surface grump, but then denies utterly the parts that he can't cope with. That's not exactly like Red Death, who appears to be a cheerful, mommy-blogger type sociopath who just craves murder every once and a while, but anyway. Duality.

I guess I also hope sometimes that "our" Rusty and their dimension can be righted in some way. Even if their reality can't be totally set up like a glorious, shining tower, it could be made to um, lean a bit. And some of the characters could find contentment and happiness, and a success of a kind, even if it doesn't appear outwardly like the goals you're supposed to have.

Do you have a handle elsewhere on social media? I'm deliriumbubbles on Tumblr, Twitter (though I don't really use it), Pillowfort, and AO3. Ladydreamer on LJ and DW.

Who are your favorite characters? The Venture fam comes first. The boys, then Rusty. Also, um I love Warriana and I impatiently await her return and Amber Gold's. Where did they go??

Fav ships and/or headcanons: Fave ships, Dean/Jared, Rusty/Brock, and (I know) Rusty/Sovereign. Something happened there.

Headcanons change daily, but I have several about Rusty's childhood that would be hard to disprove. I think Action Man, in addition to being a violent asshole, was sometimes more fatherly/protective toward him than his own father. I think Jonas had an ongoing pissing contest with Benson Quest, up to and including showing off his kid in the press.

Rusty/Sovereign seems like an interesting ship and I would totally get behind it, especially in AUs where Rusty is a villain.

((I ship Rusty with Action Johnny, so its cool, I know what its like to have a kinda weird rare pair. ))

I share that head canon that Benton Quest and Jonas were always trying to one up each other.

And like yeah I can definitely get behind action man loving Rusty more then his own father in any case, I think his wiki says he was on 'action juice' and that's a huge reason he was so violent back then. I always felt like out of all the original team venture, Gentleman was the one who took care of Rusty the most. Like Jonas couldn't be bothered and action man had a problem in those days but like Gentleman had a step daughter so at least understood kids better and was always the one taking care of him when he got sick, even if he was a huge asshole and Rusty probably got most if not all of his snark and attitude from Gentleman.

I never really thought of Gentleman being a primary caregiver for Rusty because we never actually see him looking after Rusty or Tara. Like, he may have, but I've not seen it, and Rusty is so much more grumpy in Action Man's direction (as in he probably hurt him more or it meant more because their relationship was closer once). Plus, Action Man has the most direct parallel to Brock as a pseudo-father figure who will go fucking apeshit if you touch that boy.

(Lord, that gives me a weird Brusty bunny. It's definitely part of Rusty's attraction to Brock the way he looks after the boys. Or in my head, anyway.)

But we've only seen bits and pieces, so it is possible that Rodney and Gentleman had bigger roles around him, maybe at different times. He could've definitely picked up some of Gentleman's snark and drama. The only one we know for sure he didn't interact with much was Kano because he didn't talk. It would be interesting to see more of that wacky dynamic. Or even Morpho joining them on a mission and being like... this... is a baby. Why...?

It's such a lovely team, anyway, that Jonas put together, isn't it? Blackmailed and experimented on his friends... fucked their wives...

Favorite characters The Monarchs, probably? I adore most of the recurring cast, really.

Prompt: This is more a prompt for S8, but I just really want to know if the time-traveling Rusty from The forecast Manufacturer is our Rusty from the future or an alternate dimension one, because "Did that asshole just call me Malcolm?" haunts me.
